Overview

The Lexus RC F has always taken its sporting assignment seriously, packing a 472-hp V-8 engine, an adaptive suspension, a limited-slip rear differential, and Brembo brakes among other tweaks. But that’s all coming to an end, as both the RC F and its less performance-focused RC coupe sibling are calling it quits at the end of the 2025 model year. To give the RC F a respectable send-off, Lexus is issuing just one trim for 2025. Dubbed the 2025 Lexus RC F Final Edition, it includes some of the model’s best features cherry-picked from its decade-long run. Equipment includes much of the carbon-fiber bodywork of the previous Carbon Fiber edition, exclusive exterior colors, and a unique interior theme with the requisite numbered plaque mounted to the console. Red calipers are standard, as is an active rear wing. Though we’re sad to see another practitioner of the front-engine, rear-drive coupe philosophy meet its demise, the RC F—as balanced and immaculately executed as it is—never quite exhibited the raw, edgy abandon of European competitors such as the Audi RS5 and BMW M4. Still, if the RC F’s blend of luxury and performance tickled your fancy, the Final Edition is sure to put a smile on your face.

What’s New for 2025?

Lexus is making sure the RC F goes out on a good note. The 2025 RC-F is offered in one spec, the Final Edition. Based on the previous year’s Carbon Edition, the roof, side rocker panels, front spoiler, and rear diffuser are all carbon fiber. Exterior color choices are limited to four: Incognito, Radiant Red, Sonic Iridium, and Ultra White.

Pricing and Which One to Buy

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The RC F Final Edition uses a “specially assembled” version of the same 472-horsepower 5.0-liter V-8 engine as before. Lexus doesn’t elaborate on the comment other than to say it’s been “further refined to deliver a smooth-revving feel and exhilarating engine sound.” The rear differential also gets special attention in the form of having the critical backlash adjustment performed by hand to improve response. As before, the eight-speed automatic transmission sends power solely to the rear wheels. Though quick and entertaining to drive, the RC F trails the best high-performance coupes in terms of hard-core performance. As expected, the RC F features standard drive-mode settings that allow you to customize the car’s tuning, and the six-piston Brembo brakes provide smooth and powerful braking. 19-inch Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires sized 255/35ZR front and 275/35ZR19 rear are standard on the RC F Final edition.

0-60–MPH Times

Lexus claims a 4.2-second 60-mph time, but we beat that time by a tenth in C/D testing with earlier models; the RC F Fuji Speedway Edition (mechanically commensurate with the 2024 Track Edition) shaved an additional tenth for an even 4.0-second run.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The Lexus RC F returns 16 mpg city and 24 mpg highway according to the EPA. It’s worth noting that it returned 26 mpg in C/D’s 75-mph highway fuel-economy test, beating its official highway estimate by 2 mpg. None of the vehicles in this segment are miserly, and the RC F’s fuel economy is competitive with segment leaders including the BMW M4 which is rated for 16 mpg city and 25 mpg highway. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo

As with the base RC, the RC F prioritizes the comfort and convenience of the front passengers. Lexus saw fit to send the RC F Final Edition off with an interior trimmed in black and red leather and faux suede. The styling is tasteful and contemporary, and the materials are of good quality. Seat bolstering of the high-back front sport seats (10-way power-adjustable driver and eight-way front passenger) is supportive but doesn’t entirely preclude comfort. As a weekend escape pod for two, it’s an ideal choice; just don’t expect to bring the kids, because the rear seat is cramped and best used for additional storage. The RC F’s trunk offers 10 cubic feet of room, less than rivals such as the BMW M4 coupe (12 cubic feet).

Infotainment and Connectivity

The RC F Final Edition includes a standard Mark Levinson premium audio system and a 10.3-in. touchscreen with navigation. A carbon fiber “Final Edition” emblem signifying each car’s production number in the limited production run is fixed to the front console. Otherwise, the Final Edition features most of the same features of the base RC, including standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa compatibility, and a Wi-Fi hotspot that allows you to easily connect to the internet.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

The RC F comes with several standard driver-assistance technology features including radar cruise control, automatic braking, and more as parts of the Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 package.
